School Psychologist & School Counselors
RSD students are supported by one District-wide school psychologist and four school counselors. Richland School District School Counseling Department provides data-driven services and lessons that are designed to build relationships, form connections, and provide foundational life skills to help all students develop and enhance their social/emotional, academic, and personal strengths. The department strives for collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, the Board of Education, and community members to help all students become responsible, healthy, and productive citizens.
Our RSD School Psychologist and School Counselors:

- Crisis Intervention: Supporting students during crises, offering emotional support, and coordinating resources in emergency situations.

- Assessment and Referrals: Conducting assessments to identify academic or behavioral challenges and making referrals to appropriate resources or specialists.
- Classroom Presentations: Delivering workshops or presentations on topics such as mental health, bullying prevention, study skills, and more.
- College Application Support: Assisting with college applications and scholarships, and providing information on higher education options.
- CTE Program Support: Connect students with on-site job learning experiences and Youth Apprenticeships.
- School-wide Programs: Developing and implementing programs to promote mental health, resilience, and a positive school climate. School Counselors work with students on the Hornet Way, Sources of Strength, and Strengthening Families 10-14.

- Parent Collaboration: Arm parents with the information and data they need to support difficult child behaviors (see our Parenting Tips & Tricks page or our District YouTube channel for additional resources). See the Strengthening Families 10-14 program (a six-week family program held twice annually) for information on building family connections.
