SUMMARY: The Head Cook prepares and serves the students and faculty attractive and nutritious food in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
- Plan the preparation of all baked items and some cooked items.
- Report inferior quality of food or faulty equipment to the appropriate authority.
- Prepare food according to a planned menu and tested uniform recipes, and determine if the finished product is of the best quality in flavor and appearance before it is served.
- Record all food requisitions from the storeroom, and record all meals served.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen, refrigerated storage areas, and dry storage area.
- Check food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verified.
- Determine the quantities of each food to be prepared daily.
- Oversee the locking of the storeroom and the maintaining of a correct monthly inventory for commodities and purchased foods. Rotate food usage on a first in first out basis. Use commodities first and foremost.
- Order all necessary supplies on a weekly basis.
- Report immediately to the Food Service Director any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or the cafeteria premises.
- Confer with the Food Service Director regarding any personnel problems.
- Supervise the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils.
- Check outgoing shipments and serving instructions to the satellites.
- Receive daily calls from satellites reporting number of students and adults. After lunch, send amounts of food prepared and served on premise.
- Receive written inventory of food on hand at each satellite.
- Annually, help evaluate food service employees reporting to the Head Cook.
- Maintain good daily production and participation records for production kitchen and satellites and evaluate menus daily.
- Assist Food Service Director in developing work and cleaning schedules for production kitchen.
- Participate in continuing education through VTAE, DPI, and University sponsored classes; attend professional and peer group meetings; and attend in-service meetings as required by Food Service Director.

SUMMARY: The Special Education Aide works under the supervision of the teacher and assists in the daily training program for special education students.

- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about students and student behaviors.
- Assist student(s) in such physical tasks as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, and using the lavatory.

- Perform simple errands and tasks for student(s) such as sharpening pencils and carrying lunch trays.
