The Richland School District supplies our students with an iPad or a Chromebook. We went over some tips at the beginning of the year, but here are some reminders on general care. The supplied instructional device’s function provides student access to required educational materials needed for each student to be successful. The device allows student access to Skyward, Schoology, educational web-based tools, as well as many other useful sites. The supplied device is an educational tool not intended for gaming, social networking, or high end computing.

Students are responsible for the general care of the device that has been issued by the school. Devices will be collected at the end of each school year.

Here are some general precautions that you can review with your children:

--At the high school and middle school, students are responsible for bringing completely charged devices for use every school day.

--Never store your device in your carry case or backpack while plugged in.

--Leave your device inside the protective case; it helps prevent cracked screens.

--For chromebooks, do not store additional items in the in the case, such as loose papers, as it may contribute to screen damage.

--Only use devices with clean hands. We are seeing a lot of dirty, oily devices.

--No food or drink is allowed next to your device while it is in use.

--A Chromebook should always be closed when you carry it.

--Do not carry or hold the Chromebook by the screen.

--Students should always use their device with their own account.

--Devices should never be left in a car or any unsupervised area.

We understand that accidents happen, so please report a lost or damaged device immediately.
